On September 7^th, 2011, Ottawa Riverkeeper's Great River Project paddled from the Ottawa River to the mouth of the Bonnechere River, to the Horton boat launch and met with community members, the Bonnechere River Watershed Project and the Ottawa River Institute to learn about threats to fresh water in the community, and discuss what can be done to protect the Ottawa River.
